The Faculty of Computer Science and Applications labs have cutting-edge equipment for teaching, research, industry partnerships and public relations.
In the labs, students can deepen their knowledge by putting their theoretical lecture content into practice, then apply this in practical and research-oriented environments. The laboratory landscape is characterised by a high degree of diversity − aligned with the teaching and research aims of the faculty − and covers a broad professional and technical spectrum.
IT services for students, researchers and teaching staff are offered across all laboratories. These include virtualisation infrastructures, version management, container technologies and cloud services, for example for machine learning.
Students without their own computer can use suitable end devices in PC pools or borrow a laptop for a certain period of time. Through corresponding agreements with renowned tool manufacturers such as JetBrains and Visual Paradigm, licenses for selected software products are available free of charge for teaching and research purposes.

Students of our business administration and engineering programmes have been producing the magazine with a circulation of 1600 copies every semester since 1996. It is sold to students, companies and partners of the university, and distributed to interested parties at trade fairs. Six to nine students from the 5th semester produce the magazine as part of a project. In this way, the students get to know the entire production process of a print medium.
WING" gives readers a comprehensive insight into business administration and engineering studies at Furtwangen University. The magazine reports on current developments at the university, in the faculty and in the degree programmes; authors provide information about the careers of WING students, about projects and theses from science and practice, the close cooperation with companies and about Furtwangen.
