Industrial Advisory Board of the Faculty of Computer Science & Applications at the IIIUS Institute – meeting and insights into research projects

Faculty I opens the doors of the IIIUS Institute

For 13 years, the Industry Advisory Board of the Faculty of Computer Science & Applications has been bringing business and science together. This time, the meeting took place at the Institute for Intelligent Interactive Ubiquitous Systems (IIIUS) on the Furtwangen campus.

Under the leadership of External link opens in a new window:Prof. Dr. Thomas Schlegel, representatives of our partner companies gained exciting first-hand insights into current research fields and projects. The topics ranged from crowdsensing on a Segway course to the augmented reality table “ExploraVision” and a simulated passenger cabin with a robot prototype. The demonstrations provided plenty of material for discussion and gave rise to further ideas for cooperation to further deepen the successful partnership between science and industry.

The Industry Advisory Board of Faculty I, formerly the Faculty of Computer Science, regularly awards prizes for outstanding student achievements – from the best undergraduate and bachelor's degrees to excellent master's degrees and semester projects. Through joint projects and practical courses, students benefit directly from the knowledge and experience of our industry partners. “The long-standing, trusting cooperation with our Industry Advisory Board is a great asset to our faculty and strengthens the practice-oriented education of our students,” emphasised  External link opens in a new window:Prof. Dr. Steffen Thiel, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science & Applications.

Due to the growth of the faculty, an expansion of the Industrial Advisory board is also being planned. The companies currently involved include CGI (Stuttgart), doubleSlash (Friedrichshafen), Endress+Hauser (Maulburg), M&M Software (St. Georgen), Secanda (Villingen-Schwenningen), and Tata Consultancy Services (Villingen-Schwenningen).
