IBC Furtwangen e.V.

The Institute for Business Consulting e. V. (IBC) is a student consultancy at Furtwangen University and has been offering committed students the opportunity to develop their practical skills for over 25 years. The club enables students to gain experience in consulting, project management, and teamwork.

Interested students go through four phases on their way to active membership. During the application phase, the IBC provides information about the process, the association's structure, and opportunities for participation through information evenings, articles, and discussions. In addition to professional exchange, the focus is also on personal networking.

Applicants start with a so-called candidate project. In small teams, the candidates work on real tasks – based on customer projects – in areas such as IT, graphics, project management, or media production. They are supported by experienced members, alumni and a supervising customer. After around 30 hours of work, the project ends with a final presentation. Upon successful completion, applicants are accepted into the association.

In parallel with the projects, training courses are offered on topics such as quality management, presentation techniques, finance, and working with SharePoint. Workshops led by alumni and external experts complement the programme.

Community also plays an important role – regular events such as summer and Christmas parties, sales promotions, beer crate races and weekly meetings promote exchange and togetherness.

Membership opens up further opportunities – members can take on departments, get involved in the board, and work on real customer projects – some of which are remunerated. In doing so, they benefit not only professionally, but also through a growing network of students, alumni and companies.
