Computer Science in Media – 'Made in Furtwangen'
Our Computer Science in Media course, introduced in Furtwangen in 1990, was the very first of its kind in Europe. While for most people buzz words such as multi-media, Internet and animation were practically unknown at the time, ground-breaking work on the future of media was already taking place in Furtwangen. The course and the people who instigated it have been seen as pioneers ever since.
Today, Furtwangen University’s Computer Science in Media course is the model for numerous courses of this kind all over Germany: many other Universities of Applied Science have adopted the successful blueprint of the original.
Ever since those early days, the course has constantly grown and developed. Initially there were forty students and six professors. Today there are more than four hundred students and thirty teaching staff.
