Details of the programme

Programme content & programme

In addition to the technical aspects of network security, the IT Security and Cyber Security (ITS) degree program also includes digital forensics, system monitoring and the development of cyber security strategies. There are three areas of expertise in the course:

  • Computer Science
  • IT security and
  • Digital forensics

Seven semesters

The bachelor's degree programme lasts seven semesters and is clearly structured. In each semester, you take five modules, which are usually completed with a graded certificate of achievement. The foundation course lasts two semesters, the advanced course five semesters.

Projects and time abroad

During your advanced studies, you'll gain experience in an IT project. You'll complete your fifth semester as a practical semester in a software company of your choice. Optionally, you can spend your sixth semester abroad – we're happy to help you choose a university.

Last but not least

Before we award you the title "Bachelor of Science" after your seventh semester, you write your thesis. You choose the topic for your thesis yourself – theses are usually written on a specific task in a company.

ITS specifics

There are three areas of expertise in the course: Computer Science, IT Security and Digital Forensics.

Computer Science

This is about computer networks, operating systems and secure programming. We teach you the basics of secure coding and network administration.

IT security

You will work intensively on securing networks and IT services. This includes network management and security, data protection, web security and intrusion prevention. The fundamentals of law as well as standards and norms are also included. We'll be preparing you for the real world so that you can work as an "ethical hacker" in highly professional security teams.

Digital forensics

We provide you with essential knowledge in the field of IT and malware forensics and basic knowledge of cryptology. Another subject area is AI-supported solutions in cyber security. Learn how to use AI optimally in order to detect threats more quickly and react more effectively. The challenge is to always be at the cutting edge of technology in order to combat cybercrime effectively.
