German Clock Museum

The German Clock Museum (Deutsche Uhrenmuseum) is located next to the Furtwangen University Furtwangen campus in the Black Forest, in the traditional centre of clock making. Admission for all members and students of the university is free. The 150-year-old collection of Black Forest Clocks is the most extensive of its kind in the world. It allows fascinating insights at the history, tradition and culture of the Black Forest region.

Foreign clocks have been part of the collection since the early 19th century and purchases by the state of Baden-Württemberg, notably the collection of Mr. Hellmut Kienzle in 1975, have added to the international collection. The current collection also focuses on quartz clocks and everyday clocks. With more that 8,000 items, the collection presents a multi-faceted and international picture of the phenomenon that is time.

Entrance to the museum is free of charge for members of the university and students.
