Entry requirements

A relevant, qualified diploma or bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for the course. You should also feel at home in the world of media and already have a good understanding of the various areas of conception, design and production of interactive media. In the work samples to be submitted, show your own work from the broad spectrum of interactive media. This can be design, research and implementation, for example from the areas of user experience design, interface design, interaction design, Internet of Things.

Graduates of university degree courses and/or foreign graduates with 180 ECTS points are offered a supplementary/transitional course by HFU.

How do I apply?

Application must be made over our online application portal.
You must first register there.
The following documents must be uploaded during the application process. It is best to have them ready in advance.

  • Copy of university entrance qualification
  • Copy of the professionally qualifying media and/or design-oriented university degree (bachelor's certificate or similar)
    Many applicants have not yet received their degree certificate. In this case, please apply with a current transcript of records containing a provisional overall grade. A current transcript of grades is usually available from the examination office of universities.
    Foreign applicants with a foreign certificate (also EU) please refer to the note below
  • List of course attendance (transcript of records, current transcript of grades) (not applicable for transcript of grades with overall grade, see above)
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Letter of motivation (1-2 pages)
  • At least three own works in digital form and their reflection as text, which can prove the special suitability for the Interactive Media Design master's programme. Approx. ½ DIN A4 page per work
  • Other relevant documents, e.g. work references, which prove your particular aptitude and motivation for the Master's degree program in Interactive Media Design
  • Proof of German language skills, if your native language is not German, level DaF TDN4, CEFR B2.2, ALTE level 4 or equivalent

As proof of English language skills, we currently only require proof in the certificate, e.g. in your university entrance qualification or your bachelor's certificate.
