We hereby inform you that you use the Instagram channel provided and its functions at your own risk. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (e.g. share, like).

Data processed by Instagram/Facebook:

Information on which data is processed by Facebook over Instagram and for which purposes it is used, can be found in the Facebook data guidelines: https://www.facebook.com/help/instagram/519522125107875

Furtwangen University has no influence on the type and scope of the data processed by Instagram/Facebook, the type of processing or the use or tranfer of these data to a third party, nor does it have any method of controlling this.

In using Instagram/Facebook your personal data is recorded, tranferred, saved, made public and used by Facebook Inc., and in doing so, regardless of your place of residence, is transferred to, saved and used in the United States, Ireland and any other country in which Facebook Inc. does business.

In doing so Facebook uses, on the one hand, the data which you have voluntarily given, such as your name, user name, email address, telephone number and the contacts in your address book, if you upload or synchronise these.

In addition Instagram/Facebook evaluates the content which you have shared and commented upon in order to determine the topics you are interested in, saves and processes confidential messages which you send directly to other users, and can determine your location based on GPS data, information on wireless networks or over your IP address, in order to send you advertisements or other content.

Under some circumstances Facebook Inc. uses analytical tools such as Google Analytics to carry out evaluations. Furtwangen University has no influence on the use of such tools by Facebook Inc. and is not informed about such activities. If tools of this type are used by Facebook Inc. for the Furtwangen University account, Furtwangen University has neither requested this be done, nor consented to, or in any other way supported this. Over its account, Furtwangen University is only able to access particular information about the download figures for individual posts, i.e. the number of “Read more” or link clicks in a particular post. Moreover, Furtwangen University is not able to restrict or prevent the use of such tools (so-called Facebook Insights) on your Facebook account.

Instagram/Facebook also receives information if you, for example, look at content, even if you do not have an account. This so-called “Log Data”can be the IP address, the browser type, the operating system, information from a website you have just accessed and the pages you accessed, your location, your mobile phone provider, the device you are using (including device ID and application ID), the search terms you used and cookie information.

Over Instagram buttons or widgets on websites and the use of cookies, Facebook can record your visits to these websites and attribute them to your Instagram/Facebook profile. By using these data, customised content and advertisements can be sent to you.

Because Facebook Inc. is a provider which is not based in Europe, with only a subsidiary in Ireland, according to the company, it is not bound by German data protection regulations. This affects, for example your right to information, withdrawal of consent or erasure of data, or the possibility to object to the use of usage data for advertising purposes.

There are options to limit the processing of your data in the general settings of your Instagram account, as well as over "Settings, Privacy". In addition, you can limit Instagram‘s access to contact and calendar data, photos, locations, etc. in the setting on your mobile devices (smartphones, tablet computers). However, this depends on the operating system being used.

Data processed by Furtwangen University:

Furtwangen University also processes your data. It does not itself save data from your Instagram account. The data you have input in Instagram, in particular your user name and the content marked as public in your account, are processed by us in that we also re-post your posts or we answer them, or we write posts which refer to your account. The data which you have made public and shared on Facebook are used by Furtwangen University in its posts and made accessible to its followers. In doing so Furtwangen University processes data legally in accordance with Section 6 of the German Data Protection Regulations (§6 Absatz 1 Satz 1 e) DSGVO) and Section 4 of the Baden-Württemberg Data Protection Regulations (§4 LDSG BW).
