Furtwangen University uses an online application platform for applications for a bachelor's degree programme. There you can apply for one or more degree programmes.
You can apply for the IBM course starting next winter semester from 29 April on using the online application link below.
This is how the application works:
- Register at External link opens in a new window:www.hochschulstart.de
You will receive an applicant identification number (BID) and the corresponding applicant authentication number (BAN).
- Register at our university at External link opens in a new window:https://mio.hs-furtwangen.de and enter your BID and BAN there. Some of the personal and contact details will then be automatically transferred from your registration at hochschulstart.de.
- You will receive a welcome email with an activation code as confirmation.
- Save your CV, university entrance qualification certificate, orientation test, vocational training certificate (if applicable), documents for the selection procedure and certificate of deregistration as a PDF on your PC. You will need these documents later in the application process.
- Apply to our university. You will be guided through the application process by an assistant.
- You can interrupt your application at any time and resume it later if, for example, you need to research additional information. Your previous details will be retained.
- You can only edit the application and the associated information until you finally submit it by clicking on "Submit application".
After that, changes can only be made after withdrawing the application and the application will not be processed by the university until it is resubmitted.
- You can use the "Print control sheet" function to check and print all the data you have entered.

Special requirements for foreign nationals
Foreign nationals with a German university entrance qualification are admitted in the same way as German nationals.
German nationals with foreign certificates cannot apply until the certificate has been recognised as a higher education entrance qualification by:

The Center for International Students of the Universities of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg (Studienkolleg) will decide whether an assessment test or a German language proficiency test (DSH) must be taken or whether a direct university entrance qualification can be issued.

These dates are important
For the winter semester 2024/25 (= start of lectures in October): The application deadline ends on 15 July, 2024, for non-EU applicants (with a foreign university entrance qualification) already on 15 June, 2024.
At the beginning of the coordination phase, an offer of admission for one of your applications may be made at any time due to the release of ranking lists and the withdrawal of other applicants. If there is more than one offer, the coordination regulations apply.
Coordinated clearing process: Study places that remain unfilled in the coordination phase are allocated in the coordinated clearing process. If you have not yet received admission during the coordination phase, hochschulstart will send you a link. Within a period of 72 hours, you can use this link to indicate your wish to participate in the coordinated clearing process for individual study programmes for which you have applied and have not withdrawn your application.
