Show of Work and MediaNight at Furtwangen University

Solve various puzzles in virtual escape rooms, listen to a concert recording in three dimensions and watch entertaining short films on the big screen — this and much more awaits visitors at the “Show of Work and MediaNight” at Furtwangen University (HFU). On Wednesday, 21 January, students of the HFU School of Design and Media will present their semester work, projects, and final theses from the 2025/26 winter semester. The content, developed in compulsory and elective courses, showcases the diversity of topics covered in the media studies programmes. In the field of photography, for example, various variations of portraits and images on the theme of “People and Personalities” were created.

In the “Umkreist” (Circled) thesis project, visitors themselves become part of a concert. Sounds and music are distributed throughout the room via many different loudspeakers, creating a multidimensional sound experience. Many other exciting projects, for example on podcasts, creative coding and interface design, can be experienced in the I Building (Unterallmendstraße 21) in Furtwangen.

In the M Building (Hafnergässle 3), the work of students from the Bachelor in Games & Immersive Media (GMB) will be on display. Visitors can try their hand at puzzles in digital escape rooms, try out new board games, and test computer games they have designed themselves. In GMB, students learn about the entire process of developing games and immersive applications.

The exhibition will take place from 2.00 - 6.00pm in the I and M buildings of the HFU and offers an excellent opportunity to talk to students and teachers to find out more about the university, the courses and student life.

MediaNight follows the exhibition at 7.00pm in the auditorium in the B Building on the Furtwangen campus. Short films made by students will be presented on a cinema screen. One of the films is about a brave pizza delivery man who is not deterred by an order in the deep, dark Black Forest.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend the “Exhibition and MediaNight” − both events are free of charge. Further information can be found on the university's website at: https://hfu.li/5m27
