Entry requirements
You don't need to be proficient in any programming languages to apply for a place with us. But we do expect you to have a deep and long-standing interest in games and immersive media. Perhaps you have already sketched out or implemented a project or two? And you don't just play for enjoyment, you also question the mechanics of the game - and want to make it even better.
The lectures are held in both German and English equally. Accordingly, you should have at least C1 level proficiency in German and B2 level proficiency in English.
GMB specifics
This degree programme offers a particularly innovative teaching concept. We work with block teaching, cohort workshops, eduScrum, and a strong project focus. This approach makes us particularly agile, but requires a high degree of commitment and flexibility from everyone involved.
The learning content and learning objectives can be found in the GMB module handbook. Our lecturers also contribute supplementary topics that keep the programme up to date.
Attendance at the cohort workshop is generally expected from Monday to Friday, from 9.30am - 5.30pm, with a lunch break of course, and exceptions are possible by arrangement. During this time, the teachers come to you and work with you.
The study assignments are designed so that they can be completed during attendance hours. This means that you have evenings and weekends off, with occasional exceptions for special courses, networking meetings, game jams, exhibition visits, and your own exhibitions or presentations.
One morning or afternoon per week at GMB is free of classes and assignments, usually Wednesday afternoon.
The deans of studies accompany you throughout your studies and are available to listen to your suggestions for improvement, or to provide personal advice.
Another special feature at GMB is the portfolio, which is maintained continuously from the start of your studies. This not only helps when applying for internships, but also when looking for a job later on.
