Quality evaluation of grinding processes using MST-based sensor fusion
The production of precise mechanical components in many cases requires further precision machining in the form of grinding. Numerous determining and interrelated factors affect the quality of the grinding process. If one parameter is not met, this can quickly lower the quality of, or even damage, the workpiece. The integration of sensors in the grinding process will make possible close process monitoring and quality control.
In order to achieve this, the project uses various sensors developed for microsystems engineering (optical sensors and turbulent flow sensors). The captured data will be fused with further process data, such as the drive performance of the machine and temperature, and analysed in the cloud in order to achieve real-time control and optimisation of the finishing process.
