Public Science

The Public Science Lab, headed by sociologist Prof. Dr. Stefan Selke, develops methods, produces content and presents the results of public science on socially relevant topics. It networks internal and external scientific actors, promotes dialogue and contributes to the fulfillment of social responsibility in the context of Furtwangen University's Third Mission.

The Public Science Lab involves citizens, their knowledge horizons, values and expectations in research projects. Formats of dialogical science, collaborative knowledge production and artistic research are applied here. The aim of the Public Science Lab is to produce socially robust and transformative knowledge.

The Public Science Lab was created in the context of Prof. Dr. Stefan Selke's research professorship "Transformative and Public Science".

Magazine for public science "Zugluft"

One product of the Public Science Lab is the magazine "Zugluft. Public science in research, teaching and society." It was developed in the context of Prof. Dr. Stefan Selke's research professorship together with information designers. "Zugluft" is aimed at both internal and external scientific audiences. Each issue of the magazine is dedicated to a new key topic and uses information design and illustrations to make it resonate. It should be a pleasure to leaf through Zugluft and it should be enlightening to read the articles.

The magazine "Zugluft" is published in a high-quality print version. At the same time, all issues and additional material on the main topics are available digitally. This is the basis for new dialogues between science and society.
