Collaborative Smart Services for Industrial Value Chains in Gaia-X

The Collaborative Smart Services for Industrial Value Chains project aims to address the challenge of cross-company data exchange in industrial value chains. Currently, companies primarily use the data collected from machines and systems for in-house optimizations and services. However, the next big step is the cross-company use of this data, which creates new data requirements and associated challenges in implementing these requirements.

The project's main focus is on industry, particularly on the industrial data space and advanced smart services, secure connections, and smart authentication and cross-authentication between industrial partners. The goal is to establish a trust level between industrial partners while maintaining privacy.
To address the challenge of cross-company data exchange, the project will define the requirements for such exchange.

It will work with technology partners to explore and utilize current technologies such as blockchain and zero-trust architecture to establish a secure and trustworthy cross-company data exchange system.

One of the main challenges is to demonstrate the correctness of the data, which is not a requirement when the data is only used internally. However, if costs are to be calculated or orders placed based on the data, pure trust is no longer sufficient – proof of correctness is required. The project will address this challenge by developing a system that ensures the correctness of the data while maintaining privacy and security.

The project's objective is to establish a secure and trustworthy cross-company data exchange system that meets the requirements of industrial value chains. The system will enable companies to use the data collected from machines and systems for cross-company optimizations and services, leading to increased efficiency and productivity.
