How do I apply for a degree programme?
If you would like to apply to study at Furtwangen University you must provide proof of the following:
- university entrance qualifications, usually the final leaving certificate from high school (for more information see below)
- in some degree programmes a certain level of language proficiency is required
- in the following degree programmes a pre-study internship must be carried out:
- Business Administration and engineering - Service Management (SMB)
- Business Administration and engineering - Marketing & Vertrieb (MVB)
- Business Administration and engineering - Product Engineering (PEB)
- Molecular and Technical Medicine (MTZ)
- The pre-semester internship in the Business Administration and Engineering programmes: WIS, MVB and PEB can be made up until the beginning of the lecture period of the third semester. It can be divided into a maximum of two sections.
University entrance qualifications
The primary requirement for admission to a bachelor's degree programme at Furtwangen University is the general high school leaving certificate (allgemeine Hochschulreife - Abitur), the subject-specific high school leaving certificate (fachgebundene Hochschulreife), the university of applied sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife), or a recognized equivalent educational qualification.
The general high school leaving certificate (Abitur) is awarded at:
- general secondary schools (Gymnasien) and comprehensive schools (Gesamtschulen)
- careers-oriented (Beruflichen Gymnasien) and subject-specific secondary schools (Fachgymnasien)
- vocational schools (Berufsoberschulen)
- full-time colleges (Kollegien als Vollzeitschule)
- evening schools (Abendgymnasien)
- Waldorf schools
The subject-specific high school leaving certificate is (Hochschulreife) is awarded at:
- subject-specific secondary schools (Fachgymnasien)
- vocational schools (Berufssoberschulen)
The university of applied sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife) is awarded at:
- secondary schools (Gymnasien), comprehensive schools (Gesamtschulen), Waldorf schoolsafter the 12 class; proof of a practical part is additionally required
- technical colleges (Fachoberschulen)
- vocational schools and colleges (Berufskollegs and Berufsfachschulen)
- evening schools (Abendgymnasien)

Study with vocational qualification
If you have completed a vocational training and have a minimum of 3 years' work experience, you can apply to study by taking an eligibility test. For further information, please contact the Admissions Office.
