The programme offers individual support from experienced HAW professors or an experienced or suitable person from science, business, administration or culture in order to plan the next career steps and to overcome challenges on the career path in a self-determined manner.

Target group: Connection to one of the nine participating universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg as former and current doctoral candidates, post-docs, lecturers or new appointees (men, women, diverse)

What is special about this programme? The mentees have the opportunity to choose their mentor from across the university. They are not alone −  during the introductory workshop, they receive support from the mentee network and the organisation team. That way, mentees can ensure that they have the right mentor at their side and that they receive the best possible support on their individual path.  A great opportunity to network outside the university with professors and participants from other participating universities of applied sciences* in Baden-Württemberg.

Programme structure:

  • Bilateral discussions between mentees and mentors
  • Workshops for both sides
  • Professional input and exchange
  • Networking between the mentees
  • Kick-off, interim and final event

General conditions:

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Costs: Participation free of charge (travel costs to be borne by the mentee)

The “Traumberuf Professorin Plus” mentoring programme for women

The matching of experienced female professors from a HAW or DHBW and qualified female candidates prepares them for a HAW professorship in a targeted manner. At the same time, the project promotes the networking of women in science and industry in order to specifically reach female talent in future appointment procedures and research projects.

Target group: Women with a completed doctorate, a doctorate in preparation or a subject area (media, art) in which a doctorate is not a necessary prerequisite for a professorship, as well as professional experience outside the university or in a postdoctoral position.

What is special about this programme? “Traumberuf Professorin Plus” is a broad collaborative project in which all HAWs and DHBWs in Baden-Württemberg join forces under the umbrella of the State Conference of Equal Opportunities Officers (BW) to specifically inspire more talented women to take up teaching and research at universities.

Programme structure:

  • Bilateral mentoring discussions
  • Qualification programme with workshops and seminars (co-organised with the GHD)
  • Networking events
  • Kick-off, interim and closing events

General conditions:

  • Duration: 12 months

Organise your own mentoring program with the Mentoring Guide

Your career - supporting young academics (I27294)

Not every mentoring journey begins with a fixed programme. If you consciously decide against a mentoring programme, do not fit the target group of the programmes listed above, or are simply interested in shaping mentoring relationships, the HFU Mentoring Guide offers you a valuable alternative. It provides practical support for establishing and successfully shaping a mentoring relationship on your own initiative.

The guide conveys the central principles of mentoring, clarifies roles and expectations, and shows the opportunities that lie in a well-prepared mentoring partnership. It provides structured guidance through all phases, from getting started to setting goals and agreements to conclusion.

The guide is supplemented by specific checklists, templates, and examples that you can use directly in practice. Whether you are just starting out or are already in a mentoring relationship, the Mentoring Guide serves as a guide, working basis, and source of inspiration.

In addition, we offer a short mentoring guide for mentors that highlights the key points for this role.

Interested in the HFU Mentoring Guide? Then simply send us an email at karriere(at)hs-furtwangen.de with the subject line “HFU Mentoring Guide.” We look forward to hearing from you!
