Entry requirements

Applications are suitable in terms of initial specialist knowledge if sufficient knowledge in all the following subject areas can be demonstrated:

  • physiology, anatomy or cell biology
  • physics
  • elementary differential calculus, matrix calculus
  • programming
  • electronics, signal processing, measurement technology
  • control engineering  

Proof of knowledge can be provided by the successful completion of study programmes, study modules or corresponding courses.

Applicants with sufficient knowledge of more than 3 subject areas but less than 6 subject areas, may be granted admission on condition that the knowledge of missing subject areas is acquired during the course of study or as part of a pre-semester. This can be done by attending corresponding compulsory elective courses. Alternatively, a complete, individually tailored pre-semester can be completed.

How do I apply?

Application must be made over our online application portal.
You must first register there.
This Application guide will help you through the application process.

The following documents must be uploaded during the application process. It is best to have them ready in advance.

  • copy of university entrance qualification*
  • copy of professionally qualifying university degree*
  • curriculum vitae (CV) in English or German
  • proof of language proficiency in English and, if applicable, German in accordance with § 2 para. 1 c.  
  • two references  
  • copies of other relevant documents, if available, such as work references, which prove the applicant's particular aptitude for the master's programme

Upon enrollment, the original or a certified copy of the documents confirming the attainment of the university degree and proof of language proficiency must be submitted.

*If the original was written in a language other than English or German, an officially certified translation into English or German.

International applicants

Foreign nationals with a German higher education entrance qualification are admitted in the same way as German nationals.

Foreign applicants with foreign certificates in whose countries there is no Academic Evaluation Center (APS), as well as stateless applicants, must apply for certificate recognition via the:
