For those with music in their blood
This bachelor's programme is something special, as we offer it in partnership with the Trossingen University of Music. Two universities, two perspectives – your degree programme is guaranteed to be twice as interesting! We view working with sound as part of an overall production that the listening audience can experience through multiple media and senses. Learn to shape sound using the elements of (composed) music, speech and ambient sound!

Course content and structure
Music designers work closely with other artists, as well as marketing and product acoustics specialists from the fields of brand communication, product development, architecture, media installations, film, interactive applications and mobile content, on the conception and realisation of this production. This degree programme will equip you for this challenging interdisciplinary collaboration.
We are looking for creative minds with sound in their blood who want to be more than just musicians: both newcomers (school leavers) and career changers – experts from the fields of music, composition, sound design, DJing, sound art, media design and scenography.
Entry requirements
What counts is musical talent – even if it takes an unconventional form. The ability to read music is therefore not a mandatory requirement for the entrance examination; however, you are expected to develop this skill as part of your course.
Applicants without university entrance qualifications may also be admitted to the programme if they demonstrate exceptional artistic talent and sufficient general knowledge, which is assessed separately in what is known as a ‘talent assessment’.
MD specifics
We have few entry requirements, apart from talent and creativity. A knowledge of musical notation is not essential at the start of the degree programme. Registration for the degree programme is possible even without A levels, and career changers without a background in classical music are also welcome.
The degree programme has an interdisciplinary approach: we emphasise traditional fundamentals alongside a sound university education. Our teaching team also comprises interdisciplinary experts from the fields of the arts, technology and professional practice.
Our graduates have a wide range of career prospects in the cultural and business sectors. You can start your career straight after completing your bachelor's degree!
