Protein Power-Up
The biochemistry laboratory at Furtwangen University offers practice-oriented training opportunities in basic biochemical techniques. Important procedures such as protein analysis and chromatographic methods are learned and applied here. These skills are essential for careers in biotechnology, biomedicine and the pharmaceutical industry.
A sound knowledge of protein purification and analysis opens up numerous career opportunities in research, development and quality control. Graduates are ideally prepared to make a successful start in leading companies and research institutions.
Purpose of lab
In the Biochemistry Lab, students learn the basics of laboratory technology, such as pipetting with piston-operated pipettes or working with a pH meter. They also learn important and widely used biochemistry methods such as protein purification, e.g. SDS-PAGE and Western blot.
In addition to the internships provided for in the curriculum of the degree programmes, students also complete practical work in the biochemistry laboratory as part of their coursework or thesis.
