Training on the heart-lung machine
The laboratory is used for practical training on modern medical devices in medical technology courses.
One focus of the laboratory is the use of patient simulators in order to learn how to use medical devices under realistic conditions. For this purpose, the Center for Applied Simulation was established in the laboratories.
Here, extracorporeal circulation can be trained in the CardioSim simulator laboratory in a realistic operating environment with a circulation simulator, heart-lung machine, anesthesia machine, operating room washing stations, etc.

In addition to carrying out practical courses, the Medical Device Technology / Cardiotechnology Laboratory also carries out numerous practical research and development projects from hospitals and industry.The following areas in particular are covered as part of the practical training:
