The Lightweight Construction Lab, which is currently under construction, will provide a development and validation environment for lightweight structures and materials. The laboratory will offer opportunities for practical teaching, applied research and partnerships and projects with companies.

Lab equipment
The laboratory offers possibilities for, among other things:
- Simulation-based design: finite element method, multi-body simulation, structural optimisation (topology, shape)
- Manufacturing: selective laser sintering, fused deposition modeling, tool and mould making, autoclave, …
- Testing and validation: microscope, solar simulator, …
- In cooperation with the other HFU laboratories, it is also possible to integrate sensors into composite structures, surface treatment and materials science investigations.
