19 November - broad programme for school leavers
How does studying actually work? And which degree programme would suit me best? To answer these and similar questions, Furtwangen University (HFU) welcomes high school leavers to its Open Day on Wednesday, 19 November. On all three university locations—in Furtwangen, Schwenningen, and Tuttlingen—as well as at the Freiburg Study Center, prospective students will gain insights into our various programmes. Whether it's a taster lecture in medical microbiology or engineering psychology, security law, marketing and sales, or interface design – HFU offers an extensive programme from which high school students can choose.
Those who are still undecided can attend many mini-lectures on a wide variety of degree programmes at the “speed lecture” event on the Schwenningen campus. There are also campus tours and lab tours, for example through the “SkillsLab” in Furtwangen. Prospective students can experience the practical nature of studying at HFU through experiments and workshops, for example on “Generative AI in Media Informatics.”
Student ambassadors report on their experiences and answer questions not only about the individual degree programs, but also about campus and student life. The joint lunch break in the cafeteria, which is often part of the program, also invites exchange.
Throughout the event, the Furtwangen campus will also host a parents' café and campus tour, where accompanying adults can chat and get advice, too.

No registration is necessary – anyone who is interested can simply drop by and get inspired to study!
On University Open Day, colleges and universities in Germany open their doors once a year to prospective students. At Furtwangen University, there are also many other opportunities to get to know the HFU, such as through a taster study programme or through special offers for schools.
