Teaching and learning experiments at HFU
Teaching at Furtwangen University is constantly evolving − the Center for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) focuses specifically on innovation. With the current call for proposals to fund teaching and learning experiments, exciting projects that break new ground in knowledge transfer will be made possible in the coming two semesters.
Experience technology: Simulation in cardiac technology
This funded project is dedicated to practical training in the field of cardiac technology. With the help of simulation software and virtual reality glasses, students will be able to experience and test the complex controls of a heart-lung machine in a realistic environment. The aim is to convey technical concepts clearly and promote long-term learning success.
Homelab Electrical Engineering: Practical experience for at home
This project is developing modular practical training equipment for independent experimentation in the field of electrical engineering. The “Homelab Electrical Engineering” enables students to carry out practical experiments flexibly and independently of location – a forward-looking addition to classroom teaching.
Hands-on flood protection: “Flood in a Box”
The “Flooding in a Box” project simulates heavy rainfall and flooding situations on a small scale in a realistic manner. With the support of an augmented reality sandbox, students will be able to directly understand the effects of hydrological processes and protective measures. The focus is on promoting practical skills in preventive and operational flood protection as well as a deeper understanding of complex interrelationships.
Learning together, growing together
By supporting these experiments, HFU is creating space for new teaching and learning methods. The knowledge and experience gained will be presented at the end of the project as part of a ZLL information event and shared with all interested parties. This creates a lively exchange that continuously enriches and further develops teaching at HFU.
