Furtwangen University (HFU) is part of the newly founded Media Education Working Group in the Schwarzwald-Baar district. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen media education in the region in the long term, to promote the media literacy of children, young people, and parents in a targeted manner, and to support professionals in their everyday media education work.

The working group serves as a platform for professional exchange between experts from various institutions. The current focus is on developing an app that will serve as an information platform and event calendar for all aspects of digital education. The aim is to use this network to develop practical and innovative approaches to media education and to disseminate them widely in the long term.

“Digitalisation is fundamentally changing our everyday lives. Media education is therefore more important than ever in enabling responsible and reflective use of digital media. Our working group provides a platform for pooling expertise and jointly creating sustainable educational opportunities for parents and professionals,” says Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl, Professor of Games & Immersive Media at Furtwangen University.

In addition to Furtwangen University, the working group includes the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis district media center, the prevention department of the Constance police headquarters (located in Villingen-Schwenningen), the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis District Office, the City of Villingen-Schwenningen, the vertrauenssache team, and the AOK Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg health insurance company.
