Prof. Dr. Ullrich Dittler presents student Selcan Firat with a small gift - she wrote the 50,000th e-exam at HFU.
Digital forms of examination have long been common practice at Furtwangen University
Furtwangen University (HFU) has reached a milestone in digital university teaching with the successful completion of the 50,000th electronic exam. When student Selcan Firat sat an exam on the topic of “e-learning & online learning” on Monday morning, she was greeted with a little surprise − because her exam marked a highly symbolic number in the long history of digital exams at HFU.
Furtwangen University is one of the pioneers in the field of blended learning and digitally supported teaching. E-exams have been an integral part of everyday university life for many years. Students benefit from standardised, modern examination formats that are didactically well thought out and technically reliable.
"For us, e-exams have long been an established part of innovative teaching. The 50,000th e-exam is not just a number − it stands for reliability, progress and the confidence of our lecturers and students in digital examination formats," says Prof. Dr. Ullrich Dittler, Head of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Furtwangen University.
HFU's pioneering role in the field of innovative teaching methods is also reflected in the fact that the new cross-university office for “The BLÄNDED Learning” has been set up at Furtwangen University. “HFU not only takes responsibility for its own further development, but also supports other universities in the state in the development of innovative study programmes,” says Dittler, "For us, digital teaching means much more than just online lectures. We are rethinking the entire spectrum of learning, examining and supervising − flexibly, accessibly and with high quality".
The 50,000th e-exam is thus exemplary of a future-oriented understanding of university teaching that sees technology not as a substitute, but as an extension of didactic possibilities.
