35th Furtwangen Security & Safety Dialogue: Customs - Spotlight on control with focus on occupational health and safety

to HFU News

Customs - Focus on control, focus on occupational health and safety

Exciting assignments, real responsibility - and much more than just borders and uniforms: Customs offers a working environment that students rarely find in textbooks.

Whether at sea, at airports, in laboratories or in covert operations − customs are active wherever illegal flows of goods, tax offences or threats to people and the environment occur. The areas of operation are as varied as the risks: chemical, biological and physical hazards, confrontations with aggressive people, stress, handling weapons or contact with animals are part of the everyday life of many customs officers.

One thing is clear: occupational health and safety is not an afterthought, but a basic requirement − from technical equipment and training to risk assessment. This lecture is aimed at students who would like to gain a practical insight into the safety work of one of the most important federal authorities − compact, authentic and with room for questions.

The “Security & Safety Engineering” and “Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering” programmes invite you to attend as part of the “Furtwangen Security Dialogue” series of events.

The 35th Furtwangen Security Dialogue with speakers from the customs authority will take place on:

Tuesday, 17.06.2025, 5.00 - approx. 7.00pm

Furtwangen Campus, Auditorium
