German Clock Museum offers initiatives for schools and kindergartens in the region

The Clock Museum is breaking new ground − the museum team has been visiting schools and kindergartens in the region on a regular basis for several weeks now − and the response has been overwhelming. As soon as the offer was sent out, the schedule filled up in no time. The kindergartens in particular are delighted with the on-site clock experience. The museum team is currently on the road up to four times a week − from Emmendingen to Bad Dürrheim, from Triberg to Feldberg. The museum itself will remain closed until 2026 due to extensive construction work.

For the museum team, personal contact with educators and teachers is particularly valuable. During the workshops, it is possible to find out first-hand which topics children are particularly interested in, how their initiative fits in with the educational plans − and what obstacles there might be to a later visit to Furtwangen.

Colleagues often hear along the way, “With over 20 preschool children, we can hardly manage the journey to the museum.” Particularly in rural areas of the Black Forest, many institutions appreciate the new concept − the museum comes to them − and brings cultural education and social participation directly into the classroom or workroom. What otherwise sounds abstract becomes tangible and alive here.
