Students at TG Rottweil gain insights into business administration and engineering and modern technologies
On 7 April, 2025, Furtwangen University welcomed 30 pupils from Rottweil Technical High School (TG) to a practice-oriented programme. The programme provided insights into the business administration and engineering degrees and modern technologies − from eye tracking to mixed reality.
Programme highlights
1. Presentation of industrial engineering studies
The students were given an insight into the business administration and engineering bachelor's degree programmes “Internal link opens in the same window:Marketing and Sales” and “Internal link opens in the same window:Product Engineering” with a focus on practical projects and career prospects. The combination of technical know-how and business expertise was particularly emphasised − a key to future-proof professions in industry and services.
2. Eye tracking lecture: “I spy with my little eye”
In the “I spy with my little eye” lecture, Prof. Dr. Alexander Maier showed how eye tracking technologies can optimise marketing strategies by measuring and analysing the visual attention of consumers. This enabled the students to understand how advertising campaigns can be designed more effectively to target the target group and improve the user experience.
3. Laboratory experiments in Industry 4.0 environments
In the Industrial Solutions Lab and Robotics Lab, there were interactive presentations on autonomous and collaborative robots, 3D printing and 3D scanning processes as well as possible applications of mixed reality solutions in industry. The hands-on experiences showed how digital technologies are revolutionising production processes.
Why the cooperation matters
The long-standing partnership with TG Rottweil underlines the university's commitment to promoting young STEM talent. Such formats strengthen the dialogue between schools and universities, arouse interest in technical professions and provide targeted preparation for degree programmes such as Business Administration and Engineering.
