Head of the new office at HFU - Melanie Witmann and her team coordinate new study formats throughout Baden-Württemberg
New era of innovative studying begins at Furtwangen University
The launch of “THE BLÄNDED learning” office at Furtwangen University (HFU) marks a milestone for future-oriented study models. The concepts of the new state-wide “THE BLÄNDED learning” funding line will from now on be coordinated throughout Baden-Württemberg from the new office. “THE BLÄNDED learning” aims to establish flexible study programmes, open up new target groups for universities and counteract the shortage of skilled workers.
Under the leadership of Melanie Wittmann, the office, which is based at HFU's Center for Teaching and Learning, will promote the coordination, further development and networking of innovative degree programmes. Three new degree programmes will start directly in winter semester 2025 − the joint master's in “Human Centered Design” offered by HFU and Aalen University, the master's in “Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering” offered by Offenburg University and the universities of Albstadt-Sigmaringen, Esslingen, Karlsruhe and Mannheim, and the “Digital Engineering” bachelor's degree programme at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University together with the universities of Biberach, Offenburg and Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences.
The “THE BLÄNDED learning” office stands for the combination of theory and practice and offers students a unique opportunity to study in a flexible and future-oriented way. Prospective students, professors, business partners and universities are ideally networked via the joint office at HFU. The office is also responsible for marketing activities, for supporting the organisation of the block face-to-face phases and promoting interaction between students.
“The office will focus on the continuous further development of the degree programmes, working closely with business partners,” explains Melanie Wittmann. “The promotion of exchange among students on ‘THE BLÄNDED learning’ programmes creates a strong network that increases the professional and academic opportunities of everyone involved.” Thirty companies in Baden-Württemberg have already pledged their support for the new programmes in the form of internships, partnerships and opportunities for final theses.
Melanie Wittmann and her new team are currently seeking employees in the areas of administration and marketing. Interested parties are invited to apply.
