In our world full of complex risks and challenges, we need experts who can protect people, companies and the environment from dangers. The interdisciplinary degree programme prepares students to develop practical solutions and take responsibility. It provides the necessary knowledge to effectively protect people, assets and the environment in areas such as fire and explosion protection, IT security, disaster control, crisis management, occupational safety and environmental protection.
In addition to a sound theoretical foundation, the programme enables students to acquire additional practical qualifications that increase their career opportunities. These include competencies as a fire protection officer, occupational safety specialist (§7 of the Occupational Safety Act), IT security officer, hazardous incident officer in accordance with the 5th BImSchV, specialist knowledge in radiation protection or in accordance with the Noise and Vibrations Ordinance as well as the expert examination in accordance with § 34a GewO.
The master's degree programme in Risk and Reliability Engineering can also be studied part-time. It offers advanced specialist knowledge in risk analysis and assessment, enables you to become a “specialist planner for preventive fire protection” and opens up access to management positions in industry and the public sector as well as the prospect of an academic career.
