mBot2 - small robot in action on Girls Day
Girls Day workshop at the Faculty of Computer Science is a lot of fun for the IT specialists of the future
From “Alle meine Entchen” to their own composition − at this year's Girls Day on 25 April, 2024, twelve robot-friendly girls at the Faculty of Computer Science learned to program a little piece of music for the mBot2 mini robot − and it was already brought to life. The next task was to get the mBot driving licence − whether forwards, sideways, straight ahead or around the corner − using the graphical programming interface Blockly, the students quickly experienced a sense of achievement, made the mbots dance and were able to playfully take a look into the future of autonomous driving. Some participants extended the challenge and then steered their mBot through a complex wooden maze − passing their driving licence!
The participants were supervised by faculty member Franziska Romer, who had developed the exciting robotics workshop and tailored it to younger schoolgirls. The supervising students were also bombarded with questions and had their hands full.
The four hours were quickly over. Some students could hardly tear themselves away from the mBots and asked the supervisors, “Can I come back again?”.
