INSPIRE BW Hub “Schwarzwälder Gründergeist”: Successful kick-off workshop for the new joint project with participants from the University of Freiburg, Furtwangen University and Offenburg University.
Furtwangen University part of the “INSPIRE BW Hub”
Good news for all those interested in starting a business in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg − Furtwangen University (HFU) is part of the “INSPIRE BW Hubs” project funded by the State Ministry of Science. Together with the University of Freiburg and Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, and under the title “Schwarzwälder Gründergeist”, the Innovation and Research Center Tuttlingen (IFC) at HFU forms a regional contact point for start-up activities.
"The state initiative is a significant boost for start-up support in Baden-Württemberg. By establishing a joint network, start-up projects can be supported in a more targeted and sustainable way. We are delighted that HFU is part of this forward-looking project," says University President Dr. Alexandra Bormann. “With the Schwarzwälder Gründergeist, we are not only continuing the very successful activities in the area of start-up support, we are taking them to a whole new level together with our partners,” says Professor Dr. Martin Haimerl, Scientific Director of the IFC and HFU project manager.
To date, HFU has supported those interested in setting up a business at IFC Tuttlingen under the brand name startUPcampus@HFU. This service includes advice, courses or lectures, financing and funding opportunities and premises. Together with its partners − the University of Freiburg and Offenburg University of Applied Sciences − HFU is now transferring these activities into cross-university formats. "This allows us to pool our expertise and strengths. People interested in starting a business in the south-west of Baden-Württemberg will receive a comprehensive range of services and sound support as well as greater visibility," says Haimerl, explaining the benefits of the cooperation.
In order to further improve the vibrant start-up culture at universities in the state, the Ministry of Science is funding a total of six INSPIRE BW Hubs with up to €1.8 million per year.
