Help shape a safer future - professors provide info about the safety and security programmes at HFU

In our world full of complex risks and challenges, experts are needed who can protect people, companies and the environment from danger. Our professors will provide insights into the content of the Security & Safety Engineering BSc and Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering MSc programmes, as well as the professional field of security engineering on:

The interdisciplinary bachelor's programme prepares students in a practical way to develop solutions and take on responsibility. It provides the necessary knowledge to effectively protect people, assets and the environment in areas such as fire and explosion protection, IT security, disaster control, crisis management, occupational safety and environmental protection.

In addition to a sound theoretical foundation, the course enables students to acquire additional practical qualifications that increase their career opportunities. These include competencies as a fire protection officer, occupational safety specialist (§7 of the Occupational Safety Act), IT security officer, hazardous incident officer in accordance with the 5th BImSchV, specialist knowledge in radiation protection or in accordance with the Noise and Vibrations Ordinance, as well as the expert examination in accordance with § 34a GewO.

The Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering master's programme can also be studied part-time. It offers advanced specialist knowledge in risk analysis and assessment, enables the acquisition of the additional qualification “Specialist Planner for Preventive Fire Protection” and opens up opportunities for students in management positions in industry and the public sector, as well as the prospect of an academic career.
