Application deadline and information

Admission to the Human Factors (MSc) master's programme takes place in the summer semester. A selection procedure takes place. Applications must be received by 15 January. The following criteria are relevant for admission:

  • Application with selection procedure
  • Completed first degree in a technical and/or psychological field
  • 210 ECTS points
  • Proof of specialist knowledge in at least three of the following areas. Missing basics can be made up in individual cases.
    • Technology (e.g. mathematics, physics, construction technology, automation technology, production technology, etc.)
    • Psychology (general and biological psychology, psychological methodology and statistics, work and organizational psychology, etc.)
    • Information processing (computer science, programming, etc.)
    • Human Factors (Engineering Psychology, Ergonomics, User-centered Design, Human Factors Engineering etc.)

How do I apply?

Application must be made over our online application portal.
You must first register there.
The following documents must be uploaded during the application process. It is best to have them ready in advance.

  • University entrance qualification that entitles the holder to study at a German university or foreign equivalent

  • A first above-average professionally qualifying university degree from a German university or foreign equivalent in the technical and/or psychological field with at least 210 ECTS, e.g. bachelor, magister, diplom in the sense of § 59 paragraph 1 LHG. Admission is also possible with another degree outside of these areas, provided that it is clearly related to the content of the master's degree programme.

  • For applications with fewer than 210 ECTS credit points, please refer to the study and examination regulations for master's degree programmes at Furtwangen University.

  • Proof of language skills:
    Applicants whose native language is not German must provide proof of good German proficiency that enable them to study (at least level DaF TDN4, CEFR B2.2, ALTE level 4 or equivalent). Applicants whose native language is German are exempt from the language proficiency requirement.

International applicants

Foreign nationals with a German university entrance qualification are admitted in the same way as German nationals.

Foreign applicants with foreign certificates and stateless applicants should contact the contact person for the degree programme as early as possible.
