- Studied human medicine and completed a doctorate in Würzburg. Clinical training and medical practice in internal medicine, intensive care medicine and cardiology at the university hospitals in Würzburg and Zurich
- Former scholarship holder of the German Cardiac Society with a research fellowship at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zurich
- Basic and patient-oriented research with a particular focus on cardiac imaging and ultrasound
- Author of more than 40 scientific publications
