Interactive at-home training for those with dementia
The aim of the KoMos project is to improve or maintain the quality of life of people with incipient memory impairment or mild dementia. This is to be achieved by maintaining cognitive and physical abilities. For this purpose, an easy-to-use, AI-supported interactive tablet computer application is to be developed that uses innovative playful elements and target group-specific everyday stories to create a narrative frame of reference that promotes the preservation of independence of those affected and relieves caregiving relatives in care activities.
The technical research objectives include the AI evaluation of the cognitive and motor status of the person with dementia playing the game and the corresponding adaptation of the game parameters to the needs and abilities of the person concerned. The collection of interaction data can be used in future dementia research to better understand the clinical picture or the course of dementia, to further expand the intervention and, if necessary, to develop new approaches to prevention. The technology is to be further developed in the future to make it accessible to a broad group of users, particularly for home care.
