Development of an interdisciplinary advanced community care teaching approach for intercultural care of people with dementia.

The care of people with dementia will be one of the global issues of the future in the coming decades. In low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), the prevalence of dementia is currently still lower than in the Global North, but will increase significantly in the coming years. Limited financial and human resources as well as a lack of knowledge represent the greatest challenges for the healthcare system in LMICs. In particular, specific knowledge about the care of people with dementia is required to ensure appropriate care and support and to reduce the burden on all those involved.

The project is therefore developing educational concepts for the care of people with dementia. A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) developed in a preliminary project (DemCareDom) will be expanded to include various target and occupational group-specific aspects based on the experiences and evaluations. The course promotes interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange and the education of students.
