Upgrading cyber security of Montenegrin Higher Education System
The Erasmus+ project CSupMNE (Cyber Security Upgrade Montenegro) aims to modernize the Montenegrin higher education system in a sustainable and systemic way. In view of the increasing digital business risks and threats, CSupMNE aims to structurally strengthen higher education institutions in Montenegro in order to effectively meet these challenges.
Goals and measures
1. Awareness and cultural change in cybersecurity:
CSupMNE promotes the development of a strong cyber security culture at all universities in the country. Employees' awareness of digital threats is raised through targeted training and awareness-raising measures. The aim is to bring about a cultural change in dealing with cyber security − towards responsible and proactive behaviour at all levels.
2. Improvement of quality of digital higher education:
The project supports the further development and accreditation of digital education standards and promotes the modernisation of study programmes with a focus on interdisciplinary aspects of cybersecurity. New teaching and learning formats as well as innovative materials are intended to make digital teaching fit for the future.
3. Introduction of a national cybersecurity framework:
One key objective is to establish a structured cyber security framework at national level that provides clear guidelines for university operations. This should put universities in a better position to manage cyber risks.
4. Technological innovation and infrastructure improvement:
Using innovative technologies and modernising digital infrastructure to strengthen the resilience of universities and reduce cyberattacks on critical information systems.
5. Establishment of an academic CSIRT:
Another core component is the establishment of an academic Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to coordinate emergency response, assist with cyber incidents and contribute to recovery capabilities. It protects the academic community and relevant stakeholders while minimising the risk and impact of security incidents.
CSupMNE thus makes a decisive contribution to the digital transformation of Montenegrin higher education and positions it for the future in the European higher education area.
