Transfer and implementation of digital sound interventions for those with dementia

The “KlangDem” project is a follow-up project to one of the three sub-projects of the “DIDEM” project funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation and aims to further develop innovative approaches in the care of people with dementia. In collaboration with those affected and their caregivers, an interactive sound overlay was developed that enables immersive sound experiences and is intended to promote the well-being of people with dementia.

As part of the follow-up funding, this sound overlay will be further developed in cooperation with the Evangelische Altenhilfe St. Georgen, with a focus on both technological refinement and practical application. A central component of the project is the creation of training concepts that enable the broad use of sound technology in care.

The aim of the overall project is the successful introduction of the “interactive sound overlay” in the care of people with dementia and its establishment as an innovation in this field. Sub-project A is dedicated to the development of practical concepts to ensure that the interactive sound technology is used effectively and sustainably.

Through the combination of technological progress and practical application orientation, the “interactive sound overlay” should set new standards in dementia care in the long term and thus improve the lives of people with dementia.
