to HFU News

Occupational safety training

On Friday, 6 December, an experimental lecture will take place in Room 0.10 Building O (Luisenstraße 17) on the Furtwangen campus starting at 9.00am.
“Fires and Explosions” is the topic of the training event organised by Furtwangen University together with the South Baden regional group of the VDSI - Association for Safety, Health and Environmental Protection at Work. The cooperation between the VDSI and the bachelor's degree programme in Security&Safety Engineering and the master's degree  in Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering at Furtwangen University has been taking place for many years. The experimental lecture will clearly illustrate various topics relating to fire protection, explosion protection, handling hazardous substances and risk assessment. This will further support practical training in the two degree programmes. Speaker Prof. Dr. Bernd Scheel travels all over Germany with his equipment for the demonstration experiments and spans the arc from the laboratory situation to real everyday operations in a practical way. The aim is to identify fire and explosion risks and make them understandable so that preventative measures can be developed at an early stage.

The event is aimed at occupational safety specialists (VDSI members) and students. Interested guests can take part by registering in advance with arno.weber(at)hs-furtwangen.de.
