Blended learning training course “Workplace health promotion”
For professionals working in the fields of health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation
Aim and content of the training course
The module teaches the basics of the German healthcare system and its relevant institutions as well as general and specific management methods and basic knowledge of business administration and applies these to practical examples.
Together with the “Health Psychology and Counseling” module, you can acquire a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Applied Health Promotion.
Content
- Background, history and necessity of a BGM; legal framework conditions
- The BGM house: essential components of the BGMS
- The OHM cycle: the various steps in the introduction of an OHM; key behavioural and relationship-oriented measures
- Key figures for the evaluation of a BGM
- Key internal and external BGM stakeholders; relevance of health insurance companies and the Prevention Act
- The role of occupational safety and occupational medicine in the context of BGM
- Work-related health risks and illnesses
- Preventive potential of workplace health promotion measures
- Needs analysis and cooperation with external service providers/networks
- Planning, timely establishment of structures and implementation of WHP
- Evaluation, quality assurance and sustainability
- Knowledge of the importance of specific measures, e.g. physical activity to improve/prevent
- back and sitting problems
- General fitness
- body weight
- cardiovascular risk factors
- Balanced diet to improve/prevent e.g.:
- risk factors of chronic degenerative diseases through optimized intake of vitamins, trace elements and other protective nutrients

Objectives
After completing the module, participants will be able to:
- understand the background and necessity of occupational health management (OHM)
- name the key components of occupational health management in companies and other institutions
- know the various steps and procedures involved in establishing occupational health management and apply them using case studies
- know the key measures of occupational health management and apply them using case studies
- know the most important external and internal players in occupational health management and classify their relevance
- reflect on the need for continuous evaluation and quality assurance of occupational health management
- plan and implement specific health-promoting measures in the company:
- identify the individual needs of WHM measures in companies
- identify the prerequisites for specific measures
- determine standard procedures within the workplace health promotion program
- design individual WHP concepts to ensure long-term success and sustainability
- apply methods for process evaluation and develop concrete measures for optimisation

Procedure
The module is offered in blended learning format; 1 semester part-time with 2 attendance weekends each. A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) can be obtained together with the “Health Psychology and Counseling” module.
Target group:
Professionals from the fields of health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation (for example from the fields of physiotherapy, sports science, nutritional science, medicine, health management and healthcare professions)
Reading skills in English are required; lessons are held in German.
Qualification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will write a term paper and Furtwangen University will then issue a certificate of further academic education worth 8 ECTS credits.

Fees
€1325.00
This includes organisational and content-related support, study materials, use of the HFU platforms and the certificate as well as snacks and refreshments during the face-to-face events. Not included are costs for travel to and from the face-to-face events and for overnight stays.
