IDACUS Institute at HFU presents latest results of joint research project with iOMEDICO at Black Forest Innovation Summit

On 11 October, 2024, Furtwangen University's Institute for Data Science, Cloud Computing and IT Security (IDACUS) presented one of its latest research projects as part of the Black Forest Innovation Summit. The event took place on the occasion of the inauguration of the university's new president, Dr. Alexandra Bormann.

AI analysis of oncology data (NIO) research project

The NIO project, led by Prof. Dr. Holger Ziekow and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Christoph Reich, is currently still in an early development phase. At the summit, project team members Liane-Marina Meßmer and Jan Stodt presented the innovative approaches to AI-supported analysis of oncology data. The focus was on the use of federated learning to process sensitive medical data in a decentralised and secure manner. The project is supported by the partner company iOMEDICO, represented at the summit by Dr. Nina Haug. The aim of NIO is to optimise the analysis of oncology data and thus promote personalised medicine in the long term.

The Black Forest Innovation Summit offered an ideal platform to present the latest research to a broad audience and to intensify the exchange with partners from science and industry. The ceremonial inauguration of Dr. Alexandra Bormann marks a new chapter in the history of our university, and we look forward to an exciting future together.
