Albrecht Faber, WING graduate
From apprentice to General Manager
Albrecht Faber's path from apprentice to Chief Sales Officer at MRS Electronic impressively demonstrates how diverse and dynamic careers in industrial engineering can be. His story offers not only inspiration, but also lessons for aspiring industrial engineers.
My journey in the field of industrial engineering has been characterised by dynamism and diversity. It began with an apprenticeship and a degree in Business Administration and Engineering from Furtwangen University, followed by a formative internship at Siemens in Silicon Valley.
My later time at Siemens as Key Account Manager at the then WestLB was an important phase in which I expanded my knowledge of customer relations and network development. This period was a turning point in my career; it sharpened my skills in clear communication of technical content and strategic marketing. Later, in my role at a telecommunications startup and at Würth Elektronik, I developed leadership and strategic thinking skills as a managing director. These skills enabled me to restructure and scale companies. At Bebro Elektronik and later in the Katek Group, I took over the management of three production sites before moving to MRS Electronic.
A crucial aspect of my career was the effective communication I learned at Siemens. The ability to present complicated technical issues in a clear and understandable way is, in my opinion, essential for any industrial engineer. It's not just about technical understanding, but about combining that knowledge with strong communication skills.
I clearly recogniSed the importance of networking and customer relations during my time at WestLB. Cultivating relationships is crucial at any stage of your career. My experience at a startup underscored the essential importance of flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit. The willingness to take risks and take on new challenges has often proven to be the key to success, especially in the fast-paced world of technology.
At Würth Elektronik and in the Katek Group, I was able to contribute leadership qualities and strategic thinking. It was about developing visions and leading teams effectively. At MRS Electronic, I focus on understanding the needs of employees and customers. Good listening and empathy are essential to building successful business relationships.
I've learned that a career as an industrial engineer doesn't always have to be a straight line. Lifelong learning and the ability to seize opportunities are crucial to paving the way to success.
