Christmas lectures at Furtwangen University

Everyone is welcome to attend this year's Christmas lectures at Furtwangen University. On 15 December starting at 5.00pm, you'll gain new perspectives on the festive season. The annual event will take place on the Schwenningen campus and will also be broadcast online to Furtwangen.

The following lectures are offered by our various faculties:

  • Prof. Dr. jur. Thilo Schülke (Faculty IV: Business, Design and Media) will talk about the free movement of goods in Europe during Advent in a lecture entitled “Gingerbread and fir trees – Christmas and EU law.”
  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Gerhard Kirchner (Faculty II: Engineering and Technology) will then explain the technical background of festive lighting in a lecture entitled “How electricity gets into Christmas tree lights.
  • Under the title “The Night(shift) before Christmas” Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Bollinger (Faculty III: Health, Medical and Life Sciences) will also report on the influence of the holidays on emergency room visits and the effects on everyday hospital life.

Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Bollinger will be the scientific director of the Christmas lectures.

After the lectures, all guests are invited to bring the year to a cozy close with mulled wine and cookies. The event begins at 5.00pm in Schwenningen in the E Building and in Furtwangen in the O Building, Room 0.10. Registration is not necessary. Anyone interested is welcome to attend!
