The young protagonists in the film “Cool Soup” – very proud of their award! Here with film director Sarah Moll and intern Tommy Jennings, both part of the ResonanzLabs team.
Kids project in the ResonanzLab - think and film the future creatively!
As part of the ResonanzLab research transfer project, Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences has implemented the “Trickfilm for Future” project together with children on the Feldberg.
The aim of ResonanzLab is to make the often complex and particularly negative emotions surrounding the topic of climate change visible, expressible, and explorable—and to use these emotions as a starting point for joint, collective action.
In the Feldberg children's project, children between the ages of nine and twelve spent two days intensively exploring their own future. They explored questions such as, "How do I imagine the world in 50 years?" "What do I want – and what might worry me?"
The first day focused on interview techniques – the children interviewed each other, filmed themselves and developed their own questions about the future – some very real, such as “Where would you like to live later on?” (where lots of soccer players live) or artistic and philosophical ones such as “What colour is the future?” (neon green).
Then it was time for creative design – using cardboard paper, photos, modelling clay and wool, the children used their imaginations to create images of the future. With the help of green screen technology, the children were then able to “beam” themselves into their own images. The aim was to give children a hands-on experience of film as a creative medium for shaping the future and to document their view of the world.
A great success for the kids was that the film has since been awarded the audience prize at the “Coole Suppe” children's animation film festival.
