On 30 September, Furtwangen University hosted a special workshop day for 12th grade students from the Donaueschingen Business High School. For one day, the young people swapped their classrooms for the university and gained practical experience of various aspects of marketing.
Around 90 students worked in small groups and dealt intensively with exciting marketing topics. The workshops were led by marketing and usability experts from the university, including Prof. Alexander Maier, Prof. Peter Schanbacher, and Holger Weber.
The focus was on the following topics:
- Career opportunities in marketing: What paths are open after graduating from high school?
- Artificial intelligence in marketing: What new opportunities does AI open up for companies?
- Eye tracking in market research: How is it measured what people really perceive in advertisements?
In the last workshop, participants were able to experience for themselves which elements of a poster attract attention in just a few seconds and which are more likely to be overlooked.
The workshop day was an overwhelming success − both teachers and students were enthusiastic about the successful mix of theory and practice. A follow-up is already planned for next year.
