Furtwangen University student takes mountain bike cross country (XCO) title
David List, a business information systems student at Furtwangen University, is also a professional mountain biker under contract with the Decathlon Ford Racing Team since the beginning of the year.
List is already the five-time German champion in the Olympic discipline of mountain bike cross country (XCO) and the German mountain bike marathon champion. Now the 25-year-old athlete has secured the title of German university champion in mountain bike cross country (XCO). The championship took place as part of the German Championships in Wombach. In addition to this success, he finished fourth in the main race of the German Elite XCO Championship. Two days earlier, the German Cross Country Short Track (XCC) Championship was also held in Wombach. Here, David List achieved an excellent third place.
With his new team, Decathlon Ford Racing Team, David List has big goals and is aiming to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. To this end, he trains around 30 hours a week. He is very happy with the optimal training conditions at the Olympic Training Center in Freiburg and the elite sports programme at Furtwangen University, as this allows him to enjoy the benefits of a dual career while still pursuing his athletic goals as a professional athlete. “Professional sports and studying require a lot of self-discipline,” says List. “But it's worth it, because with self-discipline and the support of the HFU in the elite sports programme, I can achieve my goals.”
