IMTT at symposium in Bad Dürrheim
In June, the Kurstift Bad Dürrheim hosted a symposium on “Digitalisation and the Use of Technology in Healthcare” – featuring expert presentations, discussions, and workshops on the opportunities and challenges of digital technologies in nursing care.
Prof. Dr. Christophe Kunze from the Care and Technology Lab (IMTT) at Furtwangen University opened the day with a keynote speech on “Digital technologies in nursing care between desire and reality – what lies ahead?” Using concrete examples, he showed how digital solutions can relieve the burden on nursing staff and support those in need of care – and the obstacles which still stand in the way of widespread implementation.
In one of the subsequent workshops, designed by Stefan Walzer (IMTT) and Fabian Montigel (Freiburg Nursing Practice Center, Freiburg University Hospital), participants discussed the possible introduction of an interactive sound pad for the care of people with dementia. Together with the participants, this reflection framework was used to identify key challenges and conditions for success in the possible introduction of the interactive sound pad at KWA Kurstift Bad Dürrheim and to consider how technology can be used effectively in everyday care.
Conclusion: Digitalisation requires not only technology, but also space for reflection, practical relevance, and a shared view of what really strengthens care.
