The German Clock Museum is closed for renovations. But curious visitors are being kept up to date − the clock museum's blog features views of the construction site and lots of photos. Will the rooms still be recognisable?

By the end of 2024, all objects and fixtures in the German Clock Museum were carefully packed up and moved to storage. The museum building, which is connected to the main university building, is now undergoing extensive renovation and being prepared for the future. The aim is to create a contemporary building with a high quality of stay – especially in the newly designed open foyer. Accessibility and climate protection (part of the “HFU climate neutral 2030” initiative) are high priorities.

While construction work is underway, the museum team is taking the opportunity to rethink the content − What stories do we want to tell in the future? How can familiar objects be shown in new contexts?
