Exchange on subject of artificial intelligence and research
The Protestant church in Schwenningen and Furtwangen University (HFU) recently hosted an unusual dialogue. The exchange was organised by HFU Professor Dr.-Ing. Volker C. Hass and Pastor Britta Mann-Horváth from the Protestant church in Schwenningen.
In the Johanneskirche in Schwenningen, twenty participants from the university and church context discussed the topics of artificial intelligence, sustainability, bioeconomy and digital twins, i.e. digital mirror images of real objects.
“In the open and friendly atmosphere, theological and scientific perspectives could be connected to gain completely new and surprising insights,” says Prof. Hass happily. Pastor Britta Mann-Horváth added, “It was really interesting to see all the research being carried out at HFU and how this research relates to our human existence.”
The event was organised by the joint project “Model-based design of processes for the bioeconomy” (MoDeProBio) and the Protestant parish of Schwenningen. “MoDeProBio” aims to reduce the development time and effort for innovative, sustainable bioprocesses with the help of digital twins. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hass sums up, “We agree that the university and the church should remain in contact. I am currently planning a similar event in Furtwangen with my team.”
The project is funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg (FEIH_PAN_2685068) and co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.
